Universal Orlando Ride Closures Announced for 2026 – Jurassic Park, Hogwarts Express & More
If you’re planning a trip to Universal Orlando in 2026, you’ll want to be aware of several upcoming ride closures across the resort. While some of these refurbishments are long overdue, others are brief refreshes. Here’s a complete breakdown of what’s closing — and when.
🦕 Jurassic Park River Adventure – Closed Jan 5 to Nov 19, 2026
One of Islands of Adventure’s most iconic water rides is set for its longest closure yet. Jurassic Park River Adventure, featuring an 85-foot drop and classic animatronics, will undergo a major refurbishment starting January 5 and isn’t expected to reopen until November 19, 2026.
👉 Good news: The nearby Jurassic World VelociCoaster will remain open, so thrill-seekers can still get their adrenaline fix in the land of dinosaurs.
🚂 Hogwarts Express – Closed Feb 9 to 23, 2026
The beloved Hogwarts Express, which links Diagon Alley in Universal Studios to Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure, will pause operations from February 9 through 23, 2026.
🪄 If you’re visiting during that time and have a park-to-park ticket, you’ll need to travel the old-fashioned way — by exiting one park and walking to the other through the front gates.
🧟 Revenge of the Mummy – Closed Jan 15 to 21, 2026
Although the ride underwent a major refresh in 2022, Revenge of the Mummy will briefly close again in January 2026 for what appears to be standard upkeep. The closure runs January 15–21.
🎢 Other rides in Universal Studios’ New York area — like Transformers: The Ride-3D and Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon — will remain open.
🌋 Volcano Bay Water Park – Closed Until March 2027
Universal’s water park, Volcano Bay, is undergoing its seasonal closure and will remain shut down until at least March 24, 2027. Although Florida stays warm most of the year, Volcano Bay typically closes during the winter and early spring months for maintenance and upgrades.
